Strolling through campus last week I was extremely bothered by the sight of the UGGs on the person in front of me. I began to feel a swell of anger from deep inside. I mean, who do these people think they are?? Don't they know anything?? At which point, I found myself struggling with the urge to go up to that person and give them a really good shake, but then I did a double-take.

Have you noticed the financial crisis developing right before our eyes - this country's worst since the Great Depression? Most of us know it exists but don't understand it to the extent we should.
I randomly surveyed over 120 Penn students, and only 31 percent reported that they were "extremely confident" or "pretty confident" in their ability to understand the current financial dilemma.

13 years. It's been 13 years since the legendary rock gods, Queen, put out an album. Now you may be thinking, "Queen? But isn't Freddie Mercury dead?" You would be correct. So how exactly do you create a new Queen album without the late great Mercury? Well, first of all, you do not attempt to replace him.

In "Campus must unite for change," (Sept. 30), Bob Buckheit, '09, writes, "We cannot remain stuck in the past. It is time to move forward as a unified and strong Lehigh community beyond the entrenched divisions that continue to separate us."The problem with this call for change is that the Greek/non-Greek division, or hierarchy, is strongly embedded in Lehigh's consciousness.

It seems we're getting shocking news from everywhere. The country is facing an economic crisis, North Korea is resuming their nuclear activities and Clay Aiken has finally stepped out of the closet. Now as shocking as Gaykin's, I mean Aiken's, coming out is, what is more shocking is some of the news that hasn't been reported by our laser-focused media.

On Saturday, sophomore running back Michael DiMaggio carried the Quakers on his bulky legs.
Quarterback Robert Irvin had a very respectable first half against Dartmouth. But without any semblance of a running game, the Quakers could not get the offense going, forcing Kyle Olson to punt the ball away six times before halftime.

Thirty-three years ago, I was born Hsin-Hsin Foo. Thirteen years ago, I decided on Julia Foo but that was short-lived. Three years ago, I chose to be Katherine Foo and have kept it since. Today, I admit still feeling conflicted. Although I was born in the States, my parents gave me a Chinese name because the Chinese highly value what names mean, and they wanted me to be reminded of my heritage. I do love what my name means: happiness. I also love the way it is pronounced: "shing-shing." It rings of cuteness!

In May, I was dumped by e-mail.
I received an notice from Student Financial Services telling me I would need to select a new lender for my Federal Stafford Loan. My original lender - along with 136 other institutions - had stopped offering the loans. A couple months later, a friend at another school updated her Facebook status to say she "thinks student loan companies can suck it.

If you haven't been watching the news, listening to the radio, or reading a newspaper lately, you may not have heard; apparently, the United States economy just jumped off a cliff.
Suddenly, all those banks, private investment firms and large mortgage companies stopped making boatloads of money and found out all that the money they were making wasn't really there.
